Check the category, not only the colour.
Sold Secure approvals apply to an exact product and category. Check the official directory for Powered Cycle approval and its grade. Do not silently substitute a Pedal Cycle claim or assume that every lock in the same range has the same approval. Record the full name and current listing.
A strong lock still needs to fit.
Check shackle clearance, chain dimensions, usable length and weight before buying. Decide whether the lock is for home storage or for carrying on the motorcycle. A disc lock, a suitable chain and an anchor solve different problems. Use an obvious reminder so you do not try to ride away with a disc lock attached.
Make parking part of the plan.
Where possible, use a secure fixed object and follow the lock maker’s instructions. Add a cover, suitable alarm or tracker where appropriate. Confirm your insurer’s exact security conditions in writing. No certification promises that a motorcycle cannot be stolen, and no lock recommendation here is a claim of our own destruction testing.
