DATA PROTECTION & TRANSPARENCY

Privacy Policy.
Your ride. Your privacy.

Bike Riders Junctions is built with privacy by default. We do not require accounts, we do not deploy invasive behavioural tracking scripts, and all calculator operations run right inside your browser.

1. Who We Are

Bike Riders Junctions (bikerjunctions.com) is an independent UK motorcycling resource. For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, Bike Riders Junctions operates as the data controller for any information submitted through this website.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

Unlike many modern digital platforms, we have purposely minimized data handling:

  • No User Accounts: You do not need to register, log in, or provide personal details to use our calculators, read guides, or explore routes.
  • No Behavioral Ad Tracking: We do not run third-party advertising tracking networks, behavioral remarketing pixels (e.g. Meta, TikTok), or commercial data-broker SDKs.
  • No Payment Data: All tools and guides on this website are free to access without card or payment details.

3. How Our Calculators Work (Client-Side Processing)

When you use our UK motorcycle licence calculator, running cost calculator, or seat height checker, all calculations happen strictly within your device's web browser using native client-side JavaScript.

Your entered figures—such as your annual mileage, barefoot inseam, fuel price, or insurance estimate—are processed locally. They are not transmitted to or stored in a persistent backend database.

4. Shareable URLs & Query Strings

When you share a calculation or click “Copy comparison link”, the tool writes your selected inputs into the browser's URL query string (for example, ?bike=nightster&inseam=790).

This allows you to bookmark your scenario or send it to a friend. Please note that anyone you share that link with will be able to see the numbers in the URL. If you do not wish to share those figures, simply share the base URL without query parameters.

5. Browser Local Storage

We use the browser's native localStorage API for a single functional preference: storing your chosen visual display theme under the key brj-theme (either "dark" or "light"). This prevents screen flicker when navigating between pages. No personal identifying information is stored.

6. Server Access Logs & Hosting

Like almost all web servers, our hosting infrastructure automatically records standard technical connection logs when an HTTP request is made. These logs may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and the timestamp of the request. These logs are used solely for server security, DDoS mitigation, and diagnosing technical faults, and are purged on a rolling cycle.

7. External Links & Third Parties

Our articles link to external authorities, including GOV.UK, DVLA, DVSA, Transport for London (TfL), SHARP, Sold Secure, and motorcycle manufacturers. When you click an external link, you leave our site. We encourage you to inspect the privacy notices of external websites, as we have no control over their practices.

8. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

Under UK data protection law, you possess several rights regarding any personal data we hold about you (such as if you contact us via email):

  • Right of Access: Request a copy of any personal data you have sent us.
  • Right to Rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate correspondence details.
  • Right to Erasure: Request that we delete any emails or contact submissions.
  • Right to Complain: You have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
